GNU Enterprise Pro & Con
Pro
- Database agnostic - MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, ...
- OS platform neutral - GNU/Linux, MS-Win32, ...
- Open standards - XML, SQL
- Open source & Free software - GNU General Public License (GPL)
- Economic - low barriers to entry, local economy
- Scalable design
Con
- Not mature - version 0.5.x, see case study
- Picky version dependencies - wxPython-2.4 not 2.5
Questions
- Performance of updates - does it check for unique keys when building SQL?
What do other Forms tools do?
- Copyrights - is the form definition file considered a data file with respect
to copyright, or might it be considered linked code, if it has code in
triggers? Analogous to word processor macros? Usually moot in practice?
